さて2日目。広州の朝はもやに包まれ湿度が高いです。今日は「方所」書店でのイベントの前日です。

Day 2. Hazy and humid Guangzhou morning. We will be having an event at Fangsuo bookstore Tomorrow.

書店に行く前に、イベントに協力して頂いている販売会社のセンドポインツに向かいます。

Before we head for the bookstore for the pre-event meeting we made a stop at our distributor SendPoints’ office.

センドポインツは広州のちょっと郊外にあります。道の舗装がボロボロなので少し不安。

They are located at the suburb of Guangzhou. Unpaved road is making us bit uncomfortable.

でもオフィスはとってもかっこいい。

But their office is very nice.

どどーんと本が並びます。センドポインツさんはグラフィックデザインの出版を10年ほど続けている出版社でもあります。

The wall of books. SendPoints is a publishing house as well and they have been publishing graphic design books for about a decade.

やあどうもどうも、という感じで、社長の林（Lin）さんが登場。

Mr. Lin, president of the SendPoints welcomes us with a friendly smile.

しばし談笑。この後、林さんがどんどん入れてくれる広州のお茶を飲みすぎて、みんなトイレに行きたくなりました。

Mr. Lin having a chat with Terada-san. Mr. Lin kept filling our tea (as a sign of respect in Chinese tradition) which made us want to go to the washroom.

さてここからお仕事です。山と積まれた『寺田克也原寸』にどんどんサインを入れていきます。のちほどセンドポインツの通販サイトで販売する予定です。

OK, now it’s time to work. Terada-san confronts with his book stacked up high besides him and starts to sign. These books will be sold at SendPoints’ EC website.

同時にライブストリーミング動画の配信テスト。イベント当日に予期せぬことが起きないか試すため、この様子は実際にライブで公開配信されました。わずかな時間の間にも500人近い人が視聴中となり、コメントがどんどんついていき、中国でのSNSの威力を目の当たりにします。

At the same time, to be well prepared, we run a live streaming test. So actually this was broadcasted live. In such a short period of time, approximately 500 people were viewed this live streaming and sent us tons of comments. Again, we realized the power of SNS in China.

その配信を見ていたセンドポインツ社内の寺田さんファン。サインをもらいに列をなします。デザイナーさんや、営業の方々です。

People working for SendPoints (designers and sales), who were watching the live streaming, lining up to get a sign from Terada-san.

センドポインツ社内だけで大勢いるファンに感動した筆者は、ここぞとばかりに社長の林さんに「10万部目指しましょう！」と言いたかったのですが中国語がわからなかったので、Google翻訳君のスピーカーに何度も何度も代弁させました。通じたようでよかったです。

Surprised by how many fans there are in just one office, Terada-san got excited and using google translation he repeatedly tried to make his phone speaker say "We can sell 100thousand copies!" in Chinese. Thank god at the end the message was successfully delivered.

120冊ものサイン本を作成したのち、林さんにお昼をごちそうになり、イベント会場に向かいました。こちらに見える建物は「太古汇（Taikoo Hui）」。この巨大なショッピングモールの中に方所書店があります。

After signing 120 copies, we had lunch with Mr. Lin and headed for the event venue. This building is called the Taikoo Hui. Fangsuo bookstore is located in this gigantic shopping mall.

本当に巨大で迷子になりそうです。

Literaly we could get lost easily in this mall.

こちらが方所書店の入口！ 何度か訪れたことはありますが、ここでイベントを行えるとは感無量です。

This is the entrance of Fangsuo bookstore! I have visited this place several times but it’s an honor and I’m lost for words to feel that we are actually going to have an event here.

As soon as we entered the shop we found the event poster! Digital signage was advertising the event as well.

インスタレーションがすごい。

An amazing interior design.

レジ横でも山積みになっている『寺田克也原寸』を、じっくりと読み込む若い女性が。この後また別の若い女性から「大ファンです。明日のイベントに行きます」と声をかけられ、明日への期待が膨らみます。

One fan was looking at [KATSUYA TERADA REAL SIZE] which was displayed besides the counter. Another fan came by and told us that she is a big fan and will be attending the event tomorrow. Expectation is rising.

ライブドローイング予定の場所で、方所書店のスタッフと綿密に打ち合わせ。キャンバスの配置や材質など確認します。

打ち合わせが終わり、日本人の文芸作家売り場を見る寺田さん。村上春樹さんや東野圭吾さんが人気があります。それにしても本当に素敵な書店さんです。寺田さんも「美しい本屋ですね」と。

Terada-san checking Japanese novel writer section after the meeting. Haruki Murakami, Keigo Higashino are very popular now. It’s such an amazing store. Terada-san agrees as well.

最後に、気になるカップルの向こう側から鋭い眼光を浴びせる寺田さん。明日への気合を感じます！
